40 and Fabulous Conference an Overwhelming Success
Stroke Recovery Clubs from all over NSW came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Stroke Recovery Association on Thursday 25th May 2017.
We were thrilled to be joined on the day by our Patron, His Excellency, The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales who opened the Conference and joined our two founding members Allen Rosenberg ( husband of the late Anita Rosenberg our founder) and Ros Oliver.
The Governor was accompanied to the event by his lovely wife Linda, who graciously joined with our Combined Stroke Clubs Choir led by the Keystrokes Choir founder Ms Kate Tabain for a stirring rendition of What a Wonderful World.
The rest of the day consisted of Educational presentations with the highlight of the day being a screening of the short film, Mother, Child. This is a documentary drama showing the real life experience of Tin and Kitty Pang when they first returned home after Kitty had had her Stroke.
Another highlight was another performance from the Keystroke Choir who entertained all participants after the luncheon break.
The day also bought together representatives from other State Stroke Associations.
The Celebrations continued in to the evening with a cocktail party where we were joined by many of the Health professionals who have and continued to play a large role in the success of the Association.
Members of our Stroke Recovery Clubs stayed on to enjoy the evening.
The night ending with the Board and staff raising a glass to past champions of the organisation and to the success of a FABULOUS event.
