Tartan Ribbon Day 2009

The Stroke Recovery Association is a not-for-profit organization which has been servicing survivors of Stroke in NSW for over thirty years. In 2009 the Association, in close collaboration with NSW Health’s Stroke Services Committee, is launching a fundraising campaign featuring a tartan ribbon, a similar idea to the pink ribbon concept for breast cancer.
Tartan was chosen to convey the complexity of Stroke signs and symptoms and its long term effects on people’s lives. A ribbon was chosen to represent the collaboration/partnership between Stroke survivors and the Stroke services accessed during an individual’s recovery.
The Tartan Ribbons, which cost $2 each, are sold attached to a card which also serves as a receipt for the purchaser. They have been assembled from scratch by a dedicated team of volunteers from Stroke Recovery Clubs, NSW Health, and staff of the Association.
The Tartan Ribbon Campaign will be officially launched on the 15th of September 2009 by our patron, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales.
Tartan Ribbon Day will be Wednesday September 16th. On Tartan Ribbon Day, volunteers from the NSW Stroke Recovery Association and NSW Health will be selling ribbons in various locations throughout the state, including train stations and shopping centres. Volunteers acting on behalf of the Association will be identified by their official identification bearing the Association’s logo and Charitable Fundraising Number (CFN).
