One-Off Funding Available for Services


The Brain Injury Association of NSW recently announced that the NSW Department of Family and Community Services, Ageing Disability and Home Care (ADHC) has committed to ongoing funding for a BIA NSW Brokerage Program. Packages for use of brokerage funds are available for people with an acquired brain injury (ie Stroke) living in NSW.

The maximum amount per package is $5000 per person. The packages are for a one-off or short term purpose. They cannot be used to establish ongoing supports that will result in distress to people when they cease.

What can the funds be used for?

Funds can be used to address one or more goals in one or more of the following areas:

Therapeutic assessment by a neuropsychologist, OT, physiotherapist or speech pathologist.

Behaviour support by a psychologist/counsellor for anger management or behaviour management training for carers.

Community access programs to achieve community re-integration goals.

Attendant care for a fixed and pre-determined (not long term) period of time.

Respite, for time periods as above, and under specific circumstances only.

Allied Health/Rehabilitation support, for example swallowing/speech reassessment and/or intervention, exercise programs, driver assessment and/or retraining.

Purchase of goods, equipment and home modifications (one-off items).

Use of Interpreters

Participation in recreation, leisure, educational or vocational activities.
